Pharaoh Ant Identification and Control in Utah

Pharaoh ants are about 1/16 of an inch to 1/12 of an inch in length. They have two nodes (bumps between the middle and rear body sections). Pharaoh workers are all one size. They have a 12-segmented antennae with a 3-segmented club. Their color is a golden yellow to red with darker markings down the back.
Pharaoh ants can be found in a wide variety of secluded places in cracks and crevices such as: countertops, baseboards, wall voids, and under floors.
They prefer a warm and humid environment like near furnaces, hot water pipes or heating ducts. They also can travel along pipes and wiring.
They are more likely to nest indoors than other ants. They also can have very large colonies and can have multiple queens in one colony.
