How to Identify a House Mouse

The house mouse is brown-gray in color and a lighter colored belly with large ears. Their tail doesn’t have any hair and is about the same length as the head and body combined. 

What Are Their Nesting Habits

House mice prefer to nest in protected areas near a food supply and heat. If they are nesting indoors, they will be in dark corners and behind appliances that produce heat.

How To Prevent House Mice From Entering Your Home

Install tight-fitting door sweeps, seal exterior cracks/crevices, areas around pipes/electrical conduits that enter buildings through walls.

Reduce any clutter you may have indoors and outdoors which will help minimize nesting habitat around the property.

Move dumpster to at least 50 feet away from the building.

Keep all exterior doors closed and store food in pest-proof containers.

Clean food preparation areas throughly.

How To Get Rid Of And Monitor For House Mice

Monitor mice with non-toxic bait blocks in tamper-resistant bait boxes.

You can use snap traps placed with triggers toward the baseboards, especially in dark corners.

Use multiple baits like peanut butter, hot dogs, floss, etc.
