How To Prevent Mosquitos Around Your Home

  • Locate and remove all sources of standing water, including clogged gutters and spouts, play equipment, irrigation boxes, poorly drained turf, clogged drains, holes in trees, etc.
  • Keep screens in good repair to prevent adult mosquitoes from entering a building.
  • Avoid outside activity when mosquitoes are active (dawn and dusk).
  • Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants and a hat to help prevent bites.
  • Use repellents such as DEET, Picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus or IR3535.

How To Get Rid Of Mosquitos

  • In areas of standing water that cannot be drained, a product known as “mosquito dunks,” contains a bacteria toxic to mosquito larvae, can be used.
